Wind Wolves Preserve by AliceN101
Wind Wolves Preserve
Wind Wolves Preserve is a 93 thousand acre non profit preserve nestled within the southwest corner of the Central Valley, California. To reach this preserve, one must drive through miles of flat farmland, cattle farms, orchards, and hydraulic fracturing sites.  Within the preserve can be seen herds of tule elk and several California Condors, as well several Riparian woodland locations.  Seasonal "safari" like guided tours are given by the preserve employees, and daily educational programs at the preserve have seen more than 150 thousand children.

A problem not unique to Wind Wolves Preserve is the take over of invasive grasses, which can be seen in this photo.  These grasses are incredibly dry, pose a wildfire risk, and use animal fur and human shoes to spread their seeds via seed heads that get caught easily in abrasive materials.  Examples like Wind Wolves show us why it is important to clean camping and hiking equipment regularly, and to be careful not to spread any sort of non native plant.

Whitewater Preserve by AliceN101
Whitewater Preserve
Whitewater preserve is one of the many preserves that are a part of the Nature Conservancy.  Nestled in the San Gorgonio Wilderness, this preserve contains abundant wildlife from the numerous big-horned sheep to the endangered Least Bells Vireo.  The Pacific Crest Trail runs through Whitewater Preserve, and many of their hikers can attest to the uniqueness of this canyon with roaring winds and (as per its namesake) white sand.  Once the location of a trout hatchery, this now privately owned preserve opens its doors year round to adventurers, free of charge. Plus- you can still see the enormous trout that are no longer farmed!

Death Is The New Life by AliceN101
Death Is The New Life
Joshua Tree National Park is a large desert park nestled in Southern California. Known for its large piles of climbable rocks,  amazing sunsets, gorgeous landscapes, and chilling views while stargazing, Joshua tree is a favorite park to many, including me! Joshua Tree is an amazing location to spend a day and beat away boredom.
